Research Interests

If you are interested in my fields, feel free to get in touch!

Primary

I am fascinated by the questions related to industry dynamics and firms’ strategies, especially platforms (both centralized and decentralized). Concrete examples of these include: dynamics of pricing, competition/cooperation, user acquisition, mechanism design, anti-trust, and merger.

My research goals are to:

  • (1) understand and evaluate agents’ strategic behaviours (e.g. from the firm side, consumer side, and regulator side);

  • (2) find optimal strategies for policymakers (anti-trust, fairness), firms (profit maximization) and consumers (welfare maximization).

Current methodologies at the research frontiers in Economics, which is a combination of game theory, econometrics and computer science, can be used to answer my research questions. However, computer science techniques are still relatively new in the mainstream economic literature, I plan to employ scientific techniques and develop sophisticated, large-scale, and interpretable methods/models to address academic and business questions.

I am a big fan of ML & Causal Inference (mainly developed by Prof. Susan Athey). I also like this Special Topics in Machine Learning: counterfactual machine learning.
